7 signs your website is quietly costing you leads

A slow, confusing or outdated website can undo every marketing dollar you spend. Here are seven warning signs, and what to do about each one.

Your website is often the first real conversation a prospect has with your business. If that conversation is slow, confusing or frustrating, they leave, usually without telling you why. Here are seven signs your site may be working against you.

1. It takes more than a few seconds to load

Visitors on mobile expect pages to appear almost instantly. Every extra second of load time increases the chance they give up. Heavy images, too many third-party scripts and outdated hosting are the usual culprits.

What to do: measure real-world performance with tools like PageSpeed Insights, compress and resize images, and remove scripts you no longer need.

2. It’s hard to use on a phone

For most businesses, the majority of visits now come from mobile devices. Tiny tap targets, text that needs zooming and forms that fight the keyboard all push people away.

3. Visitors can’t tell what you do in five seconds

If your headline is vague or clever at the expense of clarity, people won’t dig deeper to find out. State who you help, what you do and why it matters, above the fold.

4. There’s no obvious next step

Every page should make the next action clear, whether that’s booking a call, requesting a quote or reading a case study. Pages that end with no call to action are dead ends.

5. Your forms ask for too much

Each extra field adds friction. Ask only for what you genuinely need to start the conversation, and explain what happens after someone submits.

6. It doesn’t build trust

Real testimonials, recognizable results, clear contact details and a professional design all reassure visitors that you’re a safe choice. Missing or generic proof makes people hesitate.

7. You can’t see what’s working

Without proper analytics and conversion tracking, you’re guessing. Set up goals for the actions that matter so you can see which pages and channels actually produce leads.

The bottom line

Fixing these issues rarely requires a full rebuild, but it does require looking at your site the way a first-time visitor would. Our web development and UI/UX design teams fix exactly these problems. If you’d like a second pair of eyes, get in touch for a free review.
